Nonprofit & Special Purpose District
The County has allocated federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to create the Boost Nassau Nonprofit and Special-Purpose District Grant Program, and is currently accepting applications to: Provide Social Services, Promote County Cultural Institutions, Manage Groundwater Conservation and Provide Technical Assistance to Small Businesses
Business District Beautification
In addition to our grants in support of outdoor commerce, PSEG Long Island is proud to offer grants for beautification projects in local business districts. We are offering grants to reimburse outdoor beautification costs of up to $3,500 for Chambers of Commerce, Business Improvement Districts (BID) and Civic Associations with a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) designation

Spring is a time for renewal and PSEG Long Island has renewed our commitment to supporting outdoor dining and commerce. As you begin or continue to develop outdoor commercial spaces, you may qualify for a PSEG Long Island grant of up to $5,000 to reimburse the purchase of materials including, but not limited to:
Small Business Technical Assistance Grants
Businesses are going through a transition where adoption to the virtual world has to be fast. This opened a door for local organizations like your local chamber of commerce – to offer technical support to small businesses in your community. The Small Business Technical Assistance Support Grants will provide funding for the essential resources that our economic development partners need, so they can continue to serve and support local businesses in our New York service territory.

That’s why our Neighborhood Investment Program was designed to make sure our economic and social role in the community has the greatest possible positive impact. We’re here to help revitalize the areas we serve by supporting and fostering energy, education and community development projects.

Covid-19 Small Business Recovery Grant
The New York State COVID-19 Pandemic Small Business Recovery Grant Program was created to provide flexible grant assistance to currently viable small businesses, micro-businesses and for-profit independent arts and cultural organizations in the State of New York who have experienced economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outdoor Commerce and Beautification
Your organization may be eligible to receive reimbursement of up to $10,000 for purchasing items including outdoor tables and seating, outdoor lighting, outdoor patio heaters, planters, durable safety materials and more. Grants are designed to foster economic viability, vibrancy and support of local businesses while increasing economic growth and business in downtown areas. The program provides funding to the following types of 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) organizations: Chamber of Commerce, Business Improvement District, Civic Association or not-for-profit.
- Outdoor Dining/Commerce: Includes heaters, benches, tables, chairs, umbrellas, garbage receptacles, barricades, durable safety equipment, outdoor non-holiday-specific lighting, speaker systems and limited signage*.
- Beautification Projects: includes planters, plants, mulch, landscape materials, rocks, flags, new gazebo construction and/or gazebo upgrade materials, winter seasonal décor/holiday lighting.
- Murals
- “Welcome To” signage: PSEG Long Island recognition signage required.
Incentives to support the enhancement of outdoor spaces where local businesses provide outdoor dining and commerce.
Main Street Revitalization Program
The Main Street Revitalization Program is designed to encourage economic vitality of a business district and to optimize the use of existing electric infrastructure. This program offers financial incentive awards for projects in a local business district that is expected to improve the economic stability and growth of a municipality.
Eligible projects may include:
- Interior renovations
- Façade improvements
- Streetscape improvements
Other investments that would enhance the economic viability/vibrancy of the business district.

Our economic development programs have kept more than 2,500 jobs from leaving Long Island and created more than 1,500 new jobs. Our energy efficiency programs have helped 4,000 businesses stay competitive by saving energy and reducing overhead costs. Plus, PSEG Long Island has helped support 900+ local companies by purchasing more than $120 million in goods and services from them. We also offer electric rate discounts to customers in certain categories, including:
Business Attraction/Expansion Rate Discounts
For non-retail customers that significantly expand their Long Island operations or move their businesses to Long Island, and that meet or exceed increased electric load or job creation/retention guidelines.

EIDL (Economic Injury Disaster Loans)
This federal small business loan program supports small businesses’ recovery from the COVID-19 disaster’s economic impacts by providing accessible and borrower-friendly capital.
PPP (Paycheck Protection Program)
As part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), a $484 billion aid package signed on April 24, 2020 and the Paycheck Protection Flexibility Act sign June 5, 2020—the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) provided $659 billion of loan funds to support small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other eligible entities impacted by COVID-19.
